“Watching the way @caitysimmers adapted on the fly was remarkable,” lensman @laynestratton told Stab.

“You can tell she almost has a skateboarder’s brain, where each time she fell, you could see her analyzing it and applying some sort of change to correct it on the next wave. Day-by-day you were just watching these giant leaps in her ability to not only read the wave but make subtle adjustments to her approach. She’d been talking with her coach Tom [Whittaker] about the two arms forward thing to generate speed in the tube. Then she was bouncing stuff off Soli and you would just watch her implement these theories and actually make those adjustments.”

Layne continued, “I hate being too claimy, but the second after I buttoned off on her last wave, I was like, ‘oh, that’s one of those waves that’s just going to kind of go down in history’. It’s just so rare that you see someone able to pair that level of technical precision with looking good doing it. I truly feel so fortunate to have been there to witness that and to have captured that wave. I was absolutely tripping afterward.”

2025 is here. Many say good riddance to 2024 as it clearly the most challenging since COVID and welcome to 2025, but if you survived (too many of our peers did not. 💔) and you created memories and made a difference in your community, you should put together and share a compilation video highlighting some of your 2024 awesomeness and thanking your customers for their continued Support as we embrace 2025.

2024 was both challenging and rewarding. When you are in the thick of it, you sometimes forget how much you accomplished.

Coastal Edge has always been more than a business, it’s been a community. It’s about friendships lasting decades long. Co-workers who found love and marriage. 2nd generation Coastal Edge employees. The hundreds of thousands of people we touched through give back, events and community involvement.

I’m so grateful for what this year brought, the grit and grind it caused. The creative problem solving, and the togetherness we achieved.

2025 is going to be a great year, because we will not allow it to be anything else.
