Ever since Caity Simmers burst on to the scene with an ISA Junior gold medal in 2018, it was clear that she was destined for greatness. Her flow, commitment, style, and demeanor (reminiscent of John John and Dane, many pundits said) were lightyears beyond her mere 13 years of age. I witnessed that performance in person and can attest that everyone was already talking about the prophecy: The little girl from Oceanside would be a world champ someday.
It didn’t take too long for the prophecy to come true. The 18-year-old Simmers was the best surfer on tour in 2024. She rightfully earned the title and plenty of reason to celebrate her historic achievement.
The Simmers camp was at Lowers en force for the finals, capturing the behind-the-scenes action on the beach. Caity just dropped the edit of that footage on her YouTube channel Toasted Media – a very Caity-esque, raw edit of her path to glory and the festivities and shenanigans that ensued at a nearby house party after. Soak it all in Caity. You deserve it!
